Since the coastline, before the company

Recipes that never
left the family.

Coastal Craves is a promise to keep three generations of pickling craft exactly as it was — unrushed, unfactoried, and always hand-ladled.

Where it began

A grandmother's clay pot, a coastline's worth of chilli and patience.

Long before Coastal Craves had a name, it had a kitchen — a small one, facing the Arabian Sea, where pickle was made once a season and shared, not sold. The ratios of salt to chilli to oil were never written down; they were watched, tasted, and passed hand to hand. When we started this brand, our only rule was to change nothing about the recipe and everything about how it reaches you.

Today the same masala is ground fresh, the same chillies are sun-dried on the same stretch of coast, and every jar is still stirred by hand — just packed a little more carefully, so it survives the journey to your table.

A Timeline

How a family kitchen became a coastal kitchen for everyone.

1962

A recipe, not a business

Our founder's grandmother begins pickling chicken and fish for the family, using spice sun-dried on the family terrace.

2019

The first hundred jars

The recipe leaves the family kitchen for the first time, hand-ladled into a hundred jars for neighbours and friends.

2022

Coastal Craves is founded

What started as gifting becomes a small coastal kitchen, built to bring the same jar to households beyond the shoreline.

2026

Still 40 jars a day

We've grown in reach, not in shortcuts — every batch is still capped, still hand-stirred, still packed to order.

What we won't compromise on.

Four standards that haven't moved since the first jar.

No shortcuts

Every jar follows the original ratio and resting time — nothing sped up for scale.

Capped batches

We cap production at 40 jars a day so quality never gets diluted for volume.

Nothing artificial

Salt, oil, spice and time do all the preserving — no additives, ever.

Coastal-first sourcing

Meat, fish and chillies bought from the same coastal markets we've traded with for years.

From our kitchen to yours.

The same jars, the same recipe, on tables across the coast.
